Press Release - April 23, 2020

Nodaway County Health Center Partners with MOSAIC Medical Center Maryville for COVID-19 Point of Care Testing.

Through participation in the Point of Care Testing initiative by Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and U.S. Health and Senior Services, Nodaway County Health Center has received an Abbott ID rapid test instrument for COVID-19. The instrument has been placed with MOSAIC Medical Center- Maryville to conduct the point of care testing. Instruments were distributed to local public health agencies throughout Missouri to optimize testing opportunities for those areas. Many are paired with two counties, and this instrument is one of two allocated to Andrew, Buchanan, and Nodaway Counties. In this initial phase, testing is reserved for symptomatic priority groups to provide timely testing for the most vulnerable, first responders, and medical personnel.

April 13, 2020

Nodaway County Health Department Administrator, Tom Patterson, announces a third Nodaway County, Missouri resident has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The affected individual is a female between 30-39 years of age, and a resident of Nodaway County.  The individual is a household contact to a positive case, and is isolated in a private home.

If you are not contacted by a county or state health official, you are not considered a close contact with this person and not at increased risk for this virus.

The health department urges the public to stay at home, to avoid social gatherings of more than ten (10) people, to maintain six (6) feet of separation for social distancing, to limit in-person interactions, and to practice good handwashing and hygiene. Please avoid touching your face. Please clean phones, devices, and contact surfaces frequently.

If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, please call your health care provider before visiting for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps.

The affected individual is a male between 30-39 years of age, and a resident of Nodaway County. The individual is quarantined in a private home.

If you are not contacted by a county or state health official, you are not considered a close contact with this person and not at increased risk for this virus.

Nodaway County Health Department Administrator, Tom Patterson, announces a Nodaway County, Missouri resident has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by Quest Laboratory.

The affected individual is a female between 50-59 years of age, and a resident of Nodaway County. The individual is under the care of Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph.

The Nodaway County Health Department staff are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to determine any close contacts of that individual who were possibly exposed. Health officials will provide guidance to these individuals with regard to isolating at home and monitoring for symptoms.

If you are not contacted by a county or state health official, then you are not considered a close contact with this person and not at increased risk for this virus.

The health department urges the public to practice good hygiene, social distancing, staying home, and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, contact your health care provider for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps.
